An apparatus and method for controlling remote parking in a vehicle is provided. The apparatus includes an ultrasonic sensor that measures a distance from the vehicle to an obstruction and a receiverthat receives a surround view monitoring (SVM) image. A controller executes remote parking of the vehicle by selectively using the distance from the obstruction, the distance being measured by the ultrasonic sensor, and the SVM image received by the receiver.
