The invention relates to a safety distance keeping control method and a safety distance keeping control system. The control system comprises a control device, a car speed detecting device, a front car distance detecting device and a rear car distance detecting device, wherein the control device is in sampling connection with the car speed detecting device, the front car distance detecting device and the rear car distance detecting device, and is provided with a control signal output end for outputting corresponding accelerator signals; at least one module of the control device runs for executing the following instructions: finding a set accelerator control signal according to a current car speed signal, the distance between the car and a front car, and the distance between the car and a rear car; and controlling the rotating speed of a car engine according to the accelerator control signal. Through the adoption of the control system, the car, the front car and the rear car can be kept within safety distance in the running process of the cars, so that the running safety is improved, and traffic accidents are reduced. In addition, the control method is simple and practicable to operate, and is convenient to popularize and apply.
