Method for controlling and/or regulating a power train for a motor vehicle includes importing a hydraulic fluid into a pressure container to reduce the gas volume in the pressure container and increase the actual temperature and the actual pressure of the gas, and/or exporting the hydraulic fluid from the pressure container to increase the gas volume in the pressure container and reduce the actual temperature and the actual pressure of the gas, measuring the gas measuring pressure in the pressure container by a pressure sensor, determining the gas actual temperature, calculating the gas actual volume by using the gas measuring pressure and the gas actual temperature, calculating the energy provided for the pressure container by the gas final volume in the pressurization of the pressure container reducing from the gas actual volume in the pressure container, and/or calculating the energy extracted from the pressure container by the gas final volume in the decompression of the pressure container increasing from the gas actual volume in the pressure container, calculating the polytropic exponent by P model calculation, and calculating the providing and extracting energy by the calculated polytropic exponent.
