The invention discloses a train locating method and system. The method comprises the steps that DB loss values of a train to be located are collected; the DB loss values used for locating analysis are determined according to the collected DB loss values and a preset model; variances of the DB loss values used for locating analysis and DB loss empirical values of different tracks are calculated, and the smallest variance is extracted from the variances; the DB loss empirical value corresponding to the smallest variance is found out, and the track number corresponding to the DB loss empirical value serves as the number of a track on which the train to be located stops. According to the train locating method and system, additional hardware input does not need to be added, train locating can be performed quickly and accurately, and the method and system are beneficial for improving the working efficiency of maintenance and management personnel.
