The invention relates to the technical field of traffic, and particularly relates to a generation method of traffic information. The real-time GPS location information of a bus running on the road is effectively utilized in the method. The method comprises the following steps: real-time acquiring the GPS location information of a bus running on the road; calculating a time span for the bus to travel across a section of road by utilizing the GPS location information, generating the traffic information of each section of road by utilizing the time span, wherein the traffic information reflects the traffic situation of the road. As one of important traffic tools in the city, the bus can adequately reflect the current traffic information. By adopting the generation method of the traffic information only based on the bus GPS location information, the source of the needed GPS data is simplified, the calculation data amount is reduced, the data cost is reduced, the time period for updating the road traffic information is shortened, and a purpose of reducing the data processing cost and improving the real-time property can be realized.
