The present invention makes it possible to acquire the gradient of a road surface without taking displacement of a spring top into consideration. According to the present invention, an irradiation device emits parallel rays (B1, B2). The parallel rays (B1, B2) hit the road surface and marks (Pc1, Pc2) are formed; an imaging target including the marks (Pc1, Pc2) is imaged by an imaging device, and a captured image (J) is obtained. The vertical distance (e) between mark images (Mc1, Mc2) corresponding to the marks (Pc1, Pc2) is detected. If the distance (e) is large, it is possible to acquire the gradient (gamma) as a larger value than if the distance (e) is small. In this manner, the gradient of the road surface is acquired on the basis of the distance between the two mark images, but the relative positional relationship between the two mark images is the same regardless of whether there are variations in the height of a spring top to which the irradiation device and imaging device are provided, as long as the gradient of the road surface is the same. For this reason, the gradient of the road surface can be acquired without taking displacement of the spring top into consideration.
