An operation diagram-based method for automatically changing a traffic route and returning when operation is interrupted, comprising: acquiring an alternative return point according to a fault point location and line return station information; calculating a return plan corresponding to the alternative return point according to an operation diagram of that day; and automatically changing the traffic route of an train in operation according to the new return plan, so as to realize automatic return of the train after the traffic route is adjusted upon interruption of operation. Beneficial effects: in cases where a line is partially interrupted, the traffic route is changed quickly while maintaining the compatibility with the existing operation diagram, being beneficial for the rapid restoration of the planned operation after the fault is removed.
