HEAT SHIELD FLANGE SLIDING JOINT A thermal expansionjoint (34) is disclosed. In one non-limiting example the thermal expansion joint (34) includes a bottom portion (36) extending between a support structure (40) and a trailing edge (47) and the support structure (40) is positioned proximate to a heat source. Furthermore, the thermal expansionjoint (34) includes a side portion. In some embodiments, the thermal expansion joint (34) includes an overlapping portion (42) coupled to the bottom portion (36) and extending from a flange portion (46) towards the side portion (38). Moreover, the overlapping portion (42) overlays and is biased against the side portion (38) to enable thermal expansion during heating by extending towards the flange portion (46) and sliding along a top surface of the side portion (38).
