This outboard motor control system is provided with multiple outboard motors, a target steering angle setting unit, multiple actuators, an actual steering angle detection unit, and a control unit. The outboard motors are attached to the stern of a vessel. The outboard motors can be independently steered. The target steering angle setting unit sets the target steering angle of each outboard motor. The actuators actuate steering operations of the outboard motors such that the steering angle of each outboard motor becomes the target steering angle. The actual steering angle detection unit detects the actual steering angle of each outboard motor. When the steering angle difference (the difference between the actual steering angles of the adjacently arranged outboard motors) is greater than or equal to a prescribed value, the control unit controls the steering operations of the outboard motors so as to avoid the steering angle difference from increasing.
