Abstract Near Mars magnetic measurements from the Phobos-2 and Mars-2, -3, -5 spacecraft are investigated with respect to indications for magnetic fields of Martian origin. The presence of a part in the measured magnetic fields, corotating with Mars, is shown. Furthermore, it could be possible that this corotating magnetic field has a component on the planetary scale and a more local part, eventually connected with a magnetic anomaly in the Tharsis region.
