AbstractIn the long term, settlement of Mars will require local refining of industrial and construction materials. One of the most significant industrial materials is steel. It is proposed that steel can be harvested on Mars in the form of reduced iron available on the surface from meteoric nickel–iron. This may be one of the most easily available resources on Mars.
