AbstractWe review here advances in the aeronomy of Earth's nearest neighbors, Venus and Mars, including ion and neutral chemistry, airglow, temperature structures, wave activity and the effects of the newly discovered areas of remnant magnetization. We discuss the results of recent modeling and measurements, both ground based and from satellites, with emphasis on progress of the last 3–5 years.
