Abstract This paper examines an environmental-friendly parking policy to reduce vehicle-mile traveled, and in consequence results in lower greenhouse gas emissions. Focusing on chained trips that have become an appealing travel type, but have received comparatively less attention, this paper studies on these behaviors for setting an environmental-friendly parking fee. The equilibrium number of travelers for each behavior is obtained based on a given parking fee. In addition, some parking policies are analyzed and a minimum parking fee to cut vehicle mileage is suggested.
