AbstractThe long-range periodicity of the Universe is well recognized now and the characteristic wave number of the pair correlation function (PCF) k0 ∼ 0.05 h Mpc−1 (λ0 ∼ 125 h−1 Mpc) is well-defined. Here we point to the fact that along with the long-wave oscillations the observable data presented by da Costa et al. (1994), Einasto et al. (1997b) and Einasto et al. (1998) are indicative of short-wave oscillations of k ∼ 0.2 ÷ 0.4 h Mpc−1 (λ ∼ 20 ÷ 40 h−1 Mpc). We propose also an interpretation of the observed oscillating behaviour of PCF based on our theory of dynamical screening of the gravitational potential.
