AbstractThe Cloud is one of the most active factors in the physical climate system which may response to global changes of other systems and factors of the global earth system in very complicated manners and rather broad spatial and temporal scales. Therefore, cloud parameters are important targets in satellite and surface-based remote sensing. Presently, quantitative remote sensing of cloud parameters is still at the primary stage because of its complexity in phase, particle size distribution, adsorption and inhomogeneous distribution and rapid variation. In this paper, the comparison of combined observation of cloudy sky (both from NOAA satellite and from ground-based radiation and lidar observation) with radiative transfer model calculations are presented. The differences between observation and model calculation are discussed to illustrate the further steps necessary for reasonable results of cloud parameters.
