Study of electrostatic phenomena during fueling of jet aircraft wing tank and small scale rig representing single compartment of integral wing tank, using batches of typical aviation turbine fuels; charge densities in fuel, electrostatic field strengths in vapor spaces of tanks, and occurrence of discharges were measured as functions of operating conditions; high field strengths were attained over wide range of operating conditions, resulting in discharges in many cases.
