Study by Fairchild Aircraft Division of possibility of applying boundary layer control to C-119 airplane in order to reduce minimum flying speed and takeoff and landing distances; three systems studied, all of which showed merit; extensive aerodynamic data correlating boundary layer thickness with flap condition, lift coefficient, and power, derived.
