State of art of electric power systems and propulsion are reviewed together for 1963; review of thrustor research and development shows that electrostatic ion propulsion developments focused on 2 devices, using contact (surface-ionization) or low density (Kaufman type) electron bombardment ion sources; achievements attained in development of hardware for propellant storage, feed, and control components, e.g., cesium storage and feed system, developed at Electro-Optical Systems, for contact thrustors; electric power systems and state of art with respect to solar cells, solar collectors and SNAP development programs.
