Increase of pressure from 15 to 60 atmos. increases adiabatic heat drop by 13 per cent; using higher temperatures and intermediate superheating increases this economy still further; economy of high pressures is illustrated by investigating range from 15 to 100 atmos.; test results on 60-atmos. boiler previously referred to have encouraged author to propose similar two-stage type for ship work; investigates weight saving of 2500-i.hp. reciprocating installation with increase of pressure.
