Basic types of knit fabrics are warp knits and weft or circular knits; each of these are distinguished by their mode of manufacture; warp knits are manufactured by supplying each knitting needle with individual set of yarns; yarns are bent into loops and needles interlock loops; in weft knitting, each yarn is supplied to all needles for loop formation and interlocking; design, application, and advantages of using knit fabrics as automotive body cloth are considered; specifications and test methods used to describe and characterize these knit fabrics are also presented.
