Outcome of merger between Auto Union GmbH and Daimler-Benz AG in 1956 is development of Auto Union Audi car which is similar to DKW F.102 model, which it supersedes; new four stroke engine is result of cooperation between Daimler-Benz AG, Volkswagenwerk AG, and Auto Union GmbH; 1696-cc engine has high compression ratio of 11.2 to 1 and develops 72 bhp at 5000 rpm; specification data and net performance curves for three versions of Audi engine; transmission unit comprises, in one assembly, single dry plate, diaphragm spring clutch, two-shaft type, four speed all-synchromesh gear and hypoid bevel gear final drive and differential unit; design details of rack and pinion steering gear, rear suspension, and unitary body structure; schematics of principal sub-assemblies and pressings of unitary body structure of four-door model are shown; tabulation of rear suspension data.
