Objectives of four representative unmanned programs, namely, ballistic missile warning, anti-satellite defense, detection of nuclear detonations, and communications; propulsion aspects are considered relating to Titan III space booster which provides vehicle family which can satisfy broad spectrum of performance requirements with maximum cost effectiveness; advanced launch vehicle systems envisaged include advanced expendable booster, reusable or partially reusable rocket vehicle that takes off vertically and lands horizontally, and fully or partially reusable vehicle, powered by combinations of air-breather and rocket engines, which takes off and lands horizontally.
