Results of considerations of various aspects of propulsion power requirements of high speed ground transport (HSGT) systems are summarized; in addition to estimating propulsive power requirements by extrapolation of low speed performance (100 mph) of existing vehicles to high speed (400 mph and up) and by examining results of apparently universal drag law, order of magnitude estimates have been made of number of other factors associated with high speed travel, especially in enclosed guideway; potential problem areas are pointed out.
