Parameters analyzed in choosing development goals in relation to intended purpose of torpedoes as underwater weapons, e.g. those of slow or high speed with greater or less silent operation, range, depth capability, and performance of craft to be destroyed; means of reducing noise and drag, and converting energy to thrust; propeller design, adaptation of MHD, electric motors, open and closed cycle heat engines are taken into account. Based largely on AIAA conference proceedings, 1963.
