Method for calculating incompressible flow with aid of computer utilizes source density distribution on surface of body and solves for distribution necessary to make normal component of fluid velocity zero on boundary; once source density distribution is known, flow velocity both on and off body surface is calculated; comparisons are made with analytic solutions and experimental data; among design studies discussed are flow in duct, effect of wing at zero lift on fuselage pressure distributions, and velocity distributions on merchant ship hull.
