Development of acrylic light transmitting fibers; each of fibers in light guide has core of polymethyl methacrylate sheathed with special plastics material of lower refractive index, exact nature of which has not been divulged; these fibers are made up in bundles and jacketed in polyethylene, number of strands in each bundle determining amount of light that can be transmitted; advantages of applications of acrylic fibers over glass fibers; applications for illumination of inaccessible areas, or for lighting of many locations from single source, such as instrument panel in automobile or aircraft.
