Design features of new Chicago Transit Authority cars that have 10-ton air-conditioning system for cooling car crowded with 125 passengers to 75 F when outside temperature is 95 F and to maintain relative humidity between 50 and 55%; cooling equipment is subjected to rapidly fluctuating loads as cars operate in frequent-stop urban service; new cars have interiors of fiber glass reinforced melamine plastic, stainless steel and anodized aluminum.
