It is concluded that at present air cooled engine has many disadvantages so far as rail cars are concerned, but if necessary backing were available reliable and efficient units would probably be available in due time; great amount of development, particularly with regard to increased thermal effectiveness of cooling system will be necessary before air cooled Diesel engines can be regarded as thoroughly suitable for traction purposes.
