Thin film CdTe/CdS has long been regarded as one promising choice for the development of cost-effective and reliable solar cells. High efficiency has been achieved in CdTe/CdS heterojunction structure in laboratory and current techniques for CdTe/CdS solar cells gradually step toward commercialization. Advances in different process of materials depositions and configurations of CdTe/CdS films with applications in solar cells are presented in this work.We review some recent patents and scientific papers that show innovated process to improve the properties of the CdTe/CdS cells. This improvement would have as a result the development of new technologies that may allow the production of CdTe/CdS cells at large scale.
