Research object of this thesis is technical information about automated robots, dedicated for analyzing surface of planet Mars and the best energy sources that affect the design of developed products. Aim of the research is to analyze the most recent technical information about automated robots, designed for Martian surface exploration, and analyze their technological solutions that correlate with most applicable industrial design solutions and that are best fitted for researching Mars surface and extreme areas of the Earth. In order to achieve this aim, following objectives were raised: 1) To analyze environment conditions of planet Mars and compare them with conditions of planet Earth; 2) To analyze automated robots, for planet surface research development; 3) Rewiev robots technological design specification for Mars and Earth surface research; 4) Research the most optimal energy sources for automated robots. Theoretical framework of this thesis consists of three chapters. In the first chapter “Comparative analysis of planet Mars and planet Earth”, information about differences and similarities of the planets is analyzed and systematized, supplemented with the analysis of the surface and climate on Mars. Second chapter “Expansion of research field on planet Mars caused by technology and design advancement” covers the evolution of robots from 1997 until planned missions in 2020. Third chapter “Energy sources in planet Mars and adaptation in extreme areas of planet Earth” consists of three subchapters in which different planned energy sources are described. Significance of the thesis is caused by increasingly growing interest in planet Mars and exploration of possibility of life in it. The need of scientific robots, which would ensure the safety of planned human expeditions to Mars, is also increasing. Because of these reasons, this scientific analysis is performed as the basis of practical work.
