When considering the application of di erent interfaces for human-robot interaction, several questions about their usability arise: Which are the most appropriate interfaces for this type of interaction? Can haptic devices improve human-robot interaction? Are there any type of interface that is not suitable for interacting with robots? This study is concentrated on the use of natural interfaces in the context of human-robot interaction that employ haptic devices. An extensive search of the literature was performed in order to locate methodologies, methods and/or metrics to evaluate the usability of these types of interfaces. During the course of the study the diculty of assessing the usability of the interfaces employed in human-robot interaction was con rmed. The fact was particularly true when the interfaces involved more than one type of interaction with users (multimodal user interfaces). The results obtained made it possible to state that the use of natural interfaces in the context of human-robot interactions brings with it a major enhancement, especially when haptic devices are employed.
