In this thesis, two types of animation that take place in 3D space are examined: digital 3D animation (hereinafter 3D animation) and stop motion animation, because these are, in many aspects, similar. To greatly simplify and summarize, the processes of creating both animations consist of: an idea, character creation, armature creation, storyboard creation, and, finally, animating. The difference is that 3D animation performs real / physical processes of creating a stop motion animation digitally with the help of computers and some animation steps are automated. In the practical part of this work, after the formalization of 3D and stop motion animation creation processes and on this basis, the character's design, 3D model and armature was created. Then the storyboard and its realization - 3D animation. Having the latter, a stop motion puppet of the same character was made and a stop motion animation, but this time the animation template and only reference was the 3D animation. Finally, the usefulness of such an approach was assessed, development methods compared, and process improvement recommendations formulated.
