The advanced traffic information system can be effective, only when drivers accept and adopt traffic information provided by the advanced traffic information system. The aim of this paper is to examine drivers’ satisfaction to traffic information system and figure out the reasons why drivers would accept or refuse the information by quantifying the impacts and values of various factors that are related to drivers’ compliance and satisfaction with variable message sign (VMS). To achieve these goals, reliability analysis and structural equation modeling (SEM) approach was adopted. The results revealed that traffic information quality assessment was the most significant factor that positively affected drivers’ acceptance intention of traffic information displayed on VMS. Moreover, drivers’ satisfaction with traffic information was found to be an important factor that affected drivers’ acceptance intention of traffic information. Furthermore, traffic information utility assessment was the most significant factor affecting drivers’ satisfaction with traffic information. Based on the findings of present studies, several suggestions are proposed to improve the traffic information service.
