Congestion pricing has been considered as a measure to relieve traffic congestion in some megacities of China. However, public approval is a key issue when deciding whether to implement it. With data collected through voluntary studies conducted in Shanghai, this paper analyzes the factors that can have significant impacts on the acceptance of congestion pricing. Through a multi-factor analysis of variance, it was found that 5 variables - including age, gender, annual income, degree of education, and frequency of getting stuck in traffic congestion - have significant impacts on the acceptability of congestion pricing. Then, a binomial logistic model was established and calibrated via a regression analysis. Calibration results show how these variables affect the acceptability of congestion pricing. The data also shows that congestion pricing has an obvious influence on people's travel behavior and vehicle purchasing behavior.
