A pedestrian running a red light, a universal traffic phenomenon in China which has caused a great impact on urban transport efficiency and safety, is becoming a serious problem. A pedestrian running a red light is a complex process. There is a variety of factors that influence the pedestrian from sensing external environment information to making a behavioral decision. In order to analyze the specific impact of various factors, the process of decision-making for a pedestrian running a red light was analyzed in detail in this article by looking at personal factors, family factors, and travel factors. We also got a large amount of data by field observations and questionnaires. Using statistical methods to analyze, review, and summarize the obtained data, the differences of the factors that affect a pedestrian running a red light decision were educed. Finally, suggestions and solutions about pedestrians running red lights are proposed.
