With the rapid growth of car ownership, traffic congestion becomes more and more problematic and turns to be the frequent state of large and medium-sized cities in China. Drivers are the major factors of road traffic safety, and their driving behaviors are impacted by physical conditions and mental characteristics. In the environment of frequent traffic congestion, the level of drivers' physiological and psychological health will be affected obviously, and characteristics of drivers' behaviors are changed as well, which will influence the safety of road traffic operation. Taxi drivers work long periods in the congestion every day. As a result, taxi drivers are very sensitive to the state of traffic flow. Furthermore, taxi drivers are very eager to travel faster through aggressive lane changing. Their visual indicators are at a high level, and the critical clearance time for their choice becomes smaller. Based on past experiments, the combination model on taxi drivers’ eye movement and lane changing is established via the synchronization of space and time. The statistical model reveals the linkage characteristics between taxi drivers' visual indexes and lane changing indicators in the congestion state.
