The tragedy of the Space Shuttle Challenger could have been avoided. Errors, both human and mechanical, resulted in the space shuttle disaster. Feeling pressure from the public and Congress, NASA rushed the launch and circumvented safety procedures. Steps have been taken to reduce the possibility of such a disaster happening again.
