Roads constructions adjacent to the high speed railway bridge will cause displacement of bridge piers and girders as well as deterioration of the geometry irregularity of the slab track. As a result, the operational safety of the high speed train and the ride comfort of passengers will be influenced. In order to determine the reasonable threshold of displacement for a bridge pier, a 32 m-span simply supported girder bridge with the CRTS (China Railway Track System) I-type and II-type slab track systems is simulated by finite element method (FEM). The roles of bridge support are considered to describe the interaction between girders and piers. The deformation and stress of CRTS are employed as the criteria. Results indicate that the practical threshold of pier displacement of the high-speed railway bridge should be controlled within 2 mm.
