Traffic operation is a complex dynamic system ranging from the blocking state to the meta-stable state. The velocity difference of the different types of vehicles has an impact velocity discreteness of heterogeneous traffic flow in the meta-stable state. In this paper, based on five kinds of typical vehicles, the data are obtained by traffic simulation. Through different types of vehicles considering their average velocity and velocity standard deviation, velocity discreteness ratio is defined, and construction of velocity discreteness ratio is modeled. By analyzing traffic flow discreteness, it is found that in the transition process from the blocking state to the meta-stable state, the velocity discreteness ratio of heterogeneous traffic flow keeps continuous oscillations and becomes larger. Finally, the gray entropy relation method is used to identify the impact degrees of different types of vehicles. The impact of small size vehicles on meta-stable traffic flow is more obvious.
