A new three-point trajectory-shaping guidance concept against stationary targets is presented. The guidance concept is based upon the principle of constant inscribed angles in a circle, which enables the imposition of a required impact angle by traversing specific circular paths. The proposed guidance concept can be viewed as a generalization of the classical line-of-sight guidance concept. The inscribed angle guidance concept is implemented by using a simple controller, obtained using linearization around the required nominal circular trajectory. Implementation of the guidance law requires only information of the inscribed angle. Simulation results are presented for various scenarios of enforcing different impact angles. The sensitivity to heading errors and interceptor dynamic lag is also investigated.
