This study develops 1-D analytical model of a SparkJet actuator, called the filtered line model (FLM). The FLM is based on spatially integrating the conservation equations within a geometry of the SparkJet actuator. The mass, momentum, and energy fluxes transported between the cavity and orifice are derived analytically by assuming an isentropic relation and total enthalpy conservation inside the SparkJet actuator. To validate these physical assumptions, six different computational fluid dynamics (CFD) analysis cases are considered under various energy conditions and taper angles. After validating the assumptions, the accuracy of the FLM is highly secured when compared to CFD. The flow variables (such as the orifice velocity) and performance variables (such as thrust and impulse) are presented as the result of the FLM, which agree well with the result of the CFD analysis. With respect to the impulse, which is regarded as a key parameter of SparkJet actuators, less than approximately 0.1 and 0.51% errors occurred under various energy conditions and taper angles, respectively.
